What is classified as a small business?

 According to the Small Business Administration (SBA), most manufacturing companies with 500 employees or fewer, and most non-manufacturing businesses with average annual receipts under $7.5 million are classified as small businesses. 

What is the percentage of businesses in the United States classified as “small business”?

Based on the SBA, there are 33.2 million small businesses in US which account for 99.9% of all U.S. firms. 85.8% of small businesses are one-person businesses without a single employee, and 55% are home-based businesses.
